Motivation is what keeps us going from one task to the next as we try to achieve our goals. Although our motivations can be strong they tend to weaken as we become exhausted over time. This is why having someone to push you forward and re-ignite your fire of motivations can be so important. But what if you don’t have that someone?

People often think that this presence that can encourage us to chase our dreams can only be found in a partner. They let opportunity after opportunity slip away because they’ve lost the drive they started with and are no longer confident, or strong enough to pursue it. When confronted with tough decisions they can’t make up their mind because they need that comforting voice to help them choose. If you find that you follow these trends from time to time and want to escape it, follow these tips:

1) Be your own presence that pushes you forward. Realize that sulking, procrastinating or giving up won’t help you achieve your goals, so you have to be your own voice of encouragement!
2) Set up a major goal and promise yourself you will achieve it. This will help keep you focused and on track so that you’re moving steadily towards your goal; instead of moving all over the place but not getting closer to your goal.
3)When you see an opportunity and are unsure if you should take it, refer back to your major goal. If this opportunity will further you towards your goal then take it! If it won’t further you towards your goal then maybe it’s a better idea to leave it be and search for something else.
4) Make friends with people who are knowledgeable in the goal you want to peruse. They might not be that comforting voice you desire to hear but they will offer you great advice that can lead to great rewards; and great rewards are great encouragement.

Reflections on the Importance of Self Image

We’ve all heard the phrase “dressed to impress” over and over again. Despite the popularity (and truthfulness) of this saying, some people feel they don’t need to adhere to it; usually because they feel they will have to sacrifice their comfortability and individuality. What these singles don’t realize is that a positive self image is small but important key to success.

Firstly, singles should dress themselves in a manner that fits their personality and their occupation. This doesn’t mean that you need to “suit up” everyday if you are a work-at-home web designer, but it does mean you have to look good when you meet with clients.

Self image is simply portraying the person you want others to see. People will use your outfit to try to gauge how successful and professional you are. If you fail to make the first impression great then you’ll lose out on an opportunity to impress and intrigue clients.

Also, remember that your self image can play a big role in elevating your mood. Even on the worst day, put on your best dress and see how you feel.

The worst critic we have is ourselves as we see the flaws that others don’t. We can choose to let our critic rip us to unconfident shreds, or we can dress to impress and leave our critic speechless. A good self image gives singles the leverage you need to succeed and it opens more doors for opportunities to come in. Lastly, self image is not only about the clothes you wear but more importantly about how you carry yourself.

Nurturing Your Will-Power

Will-power is what keeps us going, even when things get tough. It’s the drive that enables singles to do things that they never thought were possible! Without the the right will-power, interests and desires will eventually vanish with every approaching obstacle.

Will-power stems from sincere desires that come from the heart. With the right will you’ll be able to adapt the right frame of mind which is: Never give up! Unfortunately, if you don’t guard and nurture your will-power it will leave you and your unfinished goals hanging in mid-air. Here are some tips on how to power-up your will:

Pressure yourself. When you learn to pressure yourself you act like your own alarm clock; alerting yourself every time you start falling asleep to your dreams.
Surround yourself with boosters. Boosters are something that will help you achieve your goal. For example, if you are trying to lose weight surround yourself with healthy foods.
Keep a positive circle of family, friends and peers. Positive people will offer you words of constructive criticism, encouragement and compassion towards achieving your goal. Stay away from negative people as they will have little to offer you and goals.

Since a speaker needs someone to speak to, keeping your audience’s attention is half of the job. This can be a challenge depending on who you’re speaking to, but you can have them glued to your everywhere if you know how to hit the right chords; or what chords not to hit…

Here are a list of the top 3 things that will take away from your speeches and hinder from your success:

1) Too much information for your audience to absorb. Know who your audience will be and adjust your speech accordingly. Don’t throw too many ‘new’ things at your audience and don’t try using a large vocabulary to sound sophisticated.

2) Lack of mental stimulation. It takes some effort from the public speaker to keep your audience’s mind engaged and interacting. Visual aid is a great way to keep your audiences attention. Or try moving around the stage and animating yourself through your hands and arms.

3) Noise distractions. No matter what is going on in the room or venue, you need to be the focus of attention. Don’t allow your voice to be overpowered by something else; raise your volume and add enthusiasm to your voice to draw your audience back to you.

Over Come Your Inner Critic Today!

The worst critic a single can have is their own inner critic. Everyone of us has an inner critic that can be hard to tame at times. Its effects, as it seems, differs from one person to another and can affect how we conduct our daily affairs tremendously. It makes us self-conscious of our actions and gives us that uneasy, guilty feeling if we defy it. What singles should know is that your inner critic can be your friend, if you learn how to harness it.

Your inner critic began forming in your childhood and continues to change and evolve every day. The strongest factor in your inner critics ‘shape’ is the way right and wrong is perceived by the people closest to you. In fact, if you listen to your inner critic closely, it sounds a lot like your parent’s voice from your childhood, or even a bully from your grade school days.

Some may consider their inner critic as a monster lurking just around the corner, but in reality you can have your inner critic work for you. Know and accept your limitations and use your inner critic to decipher between what will add to your happiness and productivity or subtract from it. Make your inner critic your number one helper in making decisions and it will guide you to all the right steps in life.
